Early Music, Handel's Messiah, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Nicholas McGegan, conductor, Dominique LaBelle, soprano; Daniel Taylor, countertenor; Thomas Cooley, tenor; Nathaniel Watson, baritone; Philharmonia Chorale, Bruce Lamott, director, December 10, 2011

Overview

"A triumph," cheered San Francisco Classical Voice, when Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale gave their first performances in more than a decade of Handel's Messiah last December. The beloved oratorio premiered in 1742 and today is one of the most frequently performed of all musical compositions. Join music director and conductor Nicholas McGegan—one of the world's foremost Handelians—along with the orchestra, guest soloists, and chorus for a memorable performance of this extraordinary 18th-century masterpiece. It's a reason to sing Hallelujah!
