Overview
Inspired by Shakespeare. Composed by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. And now boldly reorchestrated by Delfeayo Marsalis! Jazz meets the Bard in this magical reimagining of Such Sweet Thunder, Ellington's legendary 1957 Shakespearean tribute, in which the Duke serves up delightful musical depictions of themes and characters from Shakespeare's plays. Now Delfeayo Marsalis, the gifted and classically trained trombonist of the great American musical family, has rearranged the original score, bringing a cool, contemporary spin to the mix, "to imagine what [Ellington and Strayhorn] might have written if they were here today."
