Casting just announced!

"The most spectacular dancing in the world," says the New York Times of American Ballet Theatre, recognized as a living national treasure for its stellar roster of dancers and beloved repertory. The company returns with a gala program featuring Balanchine's Ballo della Regina, Jerome Robbin's Fancy Free, the Rose Adagio from Sleeping Beauty, and the spectacular Pas de Deux from Le Corsaire. Plus, don't miss the conclusion of Cal Performances' celebration of the works of choreographer Twyla Tharp with ABT performances of Baker's Dozen and Sinatra Suite, a single-couple showcase of ballroom dancing dynamics set to such Sinatra gems as "Strangers in the Night" and "My Way."

Program A (Wed & Thu): Balanchine/Ballo della Regina, featuring Gillian Murphy and David Hallberg; set to Verdi; Robbins/Fancy Free, set to Bernstein, featuring Craig Salstein, Sasha Radetsky, Marcello Gomes, Julie Kent, and Stella Abrera; Rose Adagio from The Sleeping Beauty, featuring Paloma Herrera; Pas de Deux from Le Corsaire, featuring Xiomara Reyes and Herman Cornejo
Program B (Fri-Sun): Tharp/Baker's Dozen, set to music by Willie "The Lion" Smith; Sinatra Suite, set to songs sung by Frank Sinatra, featuring Marcelo Gomes and Luciana Paris (Nov 9 & Nov 10 eve) and Herman Cornego & Misty Copeland ( Nov 10 & Nov 11 mats); Elo/New work based on Philip Glass's A Musical Portrait of Chuck Close, music by Philip Glass (West Coast Premiere); Millepied/From Here On Out (2007), music by Nico Muhly

Education/Community Events
Focus on Twyla Tharp, Fall 2007
In addition to the performances by the Joffrey Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre, a ballet by Twyla Tharp will be set on Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies students for the Berkeley Dance Project spring concert. Twyla Tharp is a phenomenon in American dance, merging jazz, ballet and modern dance with a penchant for popular culture and a post-modernism flair. Joffrey Ballet, Miami City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre will perform key works by Tharp this fall, accompanied by a multifaceted look at the choreographer's impact on American culture. Made possible in part by the Consortium for the Arts at UC Berkeley. (More information).
