American Premiere!
A ballet in two acts inspired by
Alexander Pushkin's Eugene Onegin
Choreography by Boris Eifman
Music by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky &
Alexander Sitkovetsky
As Anna Kisselgoff famously wrote in the New York Times, "The ballet world in search of a major choreographer need search no more. He is Boris Eifman." Citing "the complexities and blazing invention" of Eifman's creations, Kisselgoff went on to praise his "highly dramatic and theatrical (the two are not the same) work, a perfected form of narrative ballet for which others in the West have strived." Eifman has created more than 40 ballets, honing an original choreographic style based on classical ballet but infused with the spirit of contemporary dance. An artist for whom nothing seems impossible, with Onegin, the choreographer continues his examination of great Russian literature.
