Still in his early 20s, this Armenian phenomenon has already captured the attention of the classical music world. In 2000, Khachatryan won first prize in the International Jean Sibelius Competition in Helsinki, becoming the youngest musician ever to win in the history of that contest, and in 2005, he triumphed at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels. When paired with sister Lusine, he is a sensitive and ardent chamber musician, renowned for his introspective, lyrical, and effortlessly virtuosic performances. "The entire audience was riveted...Khachatryan proved the wizard of color and atmosphere...he seemed a vessel through which the music flowed" (The Strad).
Program: Bach/ Violin Sonata No. 3 in C Major; Brahms/Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in G Major, Op. 78; Shostakovich/Violin Sonata, Op. 134
