Christine Brewer, soprano
Craig Rutenberg, piano

Grammy Award-winning American soprano Christine Brewer's appearances in opera, concert, and recital are distinguished by her unique timbre, at once rich and brilliant, combined with a vibrant personality and emotional honesty reminiscent of the great sopranos of the past. Her range, golden tone, boundless power, and control make her a favorite of the stage as well as a sought-after recording artist. "This is a voice to be reckoned with; it possesses beauty, warmth, and point...[she is] a talent that should be heard in all the biggest houses" (Opera News).

Program: Berg/Seven Early Songs; Strauss/Ich liebe dich; Breit' uber mein Haupt; Befreit; Britten/Cabaret Songs; arr. Quilter/Ye Banks and Braes; arr. Britten/The Salley Gardens; arr. Hughes/The Leprechaun; Various/Echoes of Nightingales

Patron Sponsors Margot and John Clements

Funded by the Koret Foundation, this performance is part of
Cal Performances' 2009-10 Koret Recital Series, which brings world-class artists to our community.
