In the same league as such great Irish playwrights as Conor McPherson and Martin McDonagh, Enda Walsh is a master at spinning tales that are wrapped in both humor as well as tragedy. Ireland's acclaimed Druid theater company has enthralled theatergoers around the world with Walsh's The Walworth Farce. Lurching from moments of high absurdity to shocking realism, this brilliant gothic comedy employs all the tricks of fast-paced farce, including rapid fire costume changes, cross-dressing, and mistaken identity. The work, which played to sold-out houses at London's National Theatre, won a Fringe First Award at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival, and played to rave reviews in New York in 2008.
