UCB Students, Faculty and Staff

Welcome to the UCB Students, Faculty and Staff corner of the Cal Performances web site. We'll be updating this section periodically with exclusive web-only offers and UCB oriented articles, so be sure to bookmark us and visit often for all the latest information Cal Performances.

UCB Students receive 50% discount on Cal Performances events!
What's the advantage of having a world-class presenter of dance, music, and theater located right here on the UC Berkeley campus?

UC Berkeley students receive a 50% discount on ticket prices to Cal Performances fine arts events — including over 65 events from all disciplines and world cultures each season! Plus, join Cal Performances' Email Club and receive even deeper discounts on selected events, just like the following special offer to join us for the American premiere of acclaimed contemporary music composer Evan Ziporyn's new opera,
A House in Bali:

Purchase one ticket at your regular UCB student discount of 50% off to this American premiere on September 26 or 27th in Zellerbach Hall and we'll treat you to a second one free!

Based on the true stories of three Westerners—composer Colin McPhee, anthropologist Margaret Mead, and artist Walter Spies—A House in Bali tells the story of their 1930s sojourn to Bali and how their paradise is soon shattered by politics, war, and difficulties with the Balinese boy who becomes McPhee's protégé. This stunning multimedia spectacle brings together artists from East and West, including New York's acclaimed Bang on a Can All-Stars, Gamelan Salukat from Bali and an international cast of vocalists and dancers.

For instructions on how to take advantage of this special offer, see below. For more information on this event, visit the event page:

How to order UCB student tickets at the special offer price:

  1. Start here: http://www.calperformances.org/login.

  2. If you are a first time visitor to Cal Performances' web site, click on "register" at the top of the page under "Please Log In" and take just a few short minutes to set up your account.

  3. Then, log in using the promotional code sent out in the special UCB Student email you received (it's located in the bottom "How To Order" section of the email!)

  4. If you already have an online account with Cal Performances, simply log in using that same promotion code.

  5. Click on the "Buy" button located on the Calendar of events under the Sept 26 or 27 performance of A House in Bali.

  6. Using Select Your Own Seating, select a seat from those available and choose the "UCB Student 241" pricing box. This price is shown at a 50% off discount, the same as if you bought one at regular price and received one free! Then follow further instructions for ticket purchase on the screen. Please note that it is not necessary to purchase the second ticket to receive the promotional price of 50% off the ticket price, and online UCB student ticket purchases require CalNet authentication.

  7. Please note that a valid UCB Student ID will be required at the window at the time of ticket pickup in order to pick up your tickets.

Please note that this special offer is subject to availability, so don't delay! Discounted tickets are also limited to two per UCB student and the discount is not applicable on prior purchases. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticket Office directly at 510.642.9988 or stop by in person at the Zellerbach Hall Ticket Office window located on lower Sproul Plaza and ask for your UCB Student House in Bali discount.

New this season! Now your UCB student discount is available online.
Beginning with the single tickets onsale of 2009/10 Season events, your UCB student discount will be available both online and through the Cal Performances Ticket Office! When choosing seats via Select Your Own Seating, make sure to select the UCB Student pricing box, which shows a 50% discount off full-price tickets. Once the ticket is in your cart — and before you can complete the checkout process — you will be asked to authenticate your UCB student status via CalNet. Please note that each person who will be using a UC Berkeley ticket discount must identify themselves as a UC Berkeley affiliate at the time of purchase. UCB ID is required at the door (along with your ticket) for admission.

Isn't it great having a world-class performing arts organization right in your own front yard?
Most of our performances happen right on campus so you never know which international star you might run into strolling across Sproul Plaza. Best of all, you receive a special discount on tickets to some of the Bay Area's hottest performing arts events! UC Berkeley students receive a 50% discount on tickets for all Cal Performances events (1 discounted ticket per student). UC Berkeley faculty and staff as well as UC Berkeley Alumni Association members receive $5 off 09/10 single ticket prices (Special Events excluded.). Single ticket discounts cannot be taken on top of subscription discounts and must be requested at the time of purchase. UCB Faculty, Staff, and Alumni discounts are available on line.

Why do I have to show my UCB ID at the door when I attend a performance?
It's just that you've most likely purchased a discounted ticket because of your UCB status, and because we do so much of our ticket sales conveniently online and over the phone, it's the easiest way for us to actually verify your eligibility. If you forget your ID, we will unfortunately have to ask you to visit the Ticket Office window before you take your seat and change your ticket to full price (and pay the extra amount as well!). So please, before you head for the concert hall, remember to tuck your UCB ID in your wallet before you go!
